The Arena Cup

A tournament, twice a week. Everyone on one clock, racing the same words at official tables — best pass wins the week.

🚧 The Arena opened its doors this week and is very much in beta — you may still hit rough edges. Spot one? — it genuinely helps.

Weekly top three, recorded forever. The champion wears the crown until the next crowning.

The rules, on one card

  • 🎟️ Your Pass: 20 round tickets per tournament, free with sign-in. A fresh pass every tournament — passes are never sold. A ticket is used only when a round deals you in; watching costs nothing, and each punched hole shows that round's points.
  • 🕛 When: Wednesdays & Saturdays, opening 12:00 UTC, open for 24 hours — shown above in your local time.
  • 🎯 A round: one hidden word, 4–8 letters (lengths rotate), 6 guesses, 3-minute limit.
  • Arriving mid-round: if the round just started (under 30 seconds in) you're dealt straight in; otherwise you watch free and play the next one — no ticket is ever spent on a round you can't win.
  • 🧮 Round score: 7 − guesses used, plus a speed bonus: +2 under 1:00, +1 under 2:00. Missed word = 0. Points only ever add.
  • 🏆 Tournament score: all 20 rounds summed — unused tickets score 0, so play the whole pass. Every tournament crowns its own podium.
  • 📅 The weekly crown: Wednesday + Saturday combined. Missing a day halves your ceiling, not your eligibility. Ties go to lowest total solve time.
  • 👑 Glory: each week's top 3 join the Champions Wall permanently.
  • 🕵️ Fair play: the referee holds the words server-side and times every solve on its own clock.
  • 🔒 Identity: Google sign-in is for saving your score only — your public name is a handle you pick from a curated list (that list is what keeps the arena safe for everyone), never your real one. Handles change at most once a week.

Tournament Pass

Your pass holds 20 round tickets per tournament. One ticket is used each time a round deals you in — watching uses none. The number punched on a hole is the points that round scored.

A tournament with a referee

The Arena Cup is the competitive side of Wordle Unlimited. Private multiplayer rooms are for friends; the Arena seats you with whoever shows up, on official tables where the server holds the hidden word, checks every guess and times every solve. Twice a week, everyone in the world plays the same 24-hour window on one shared clock — then the week crowns its champion.
