Hangman Unlimited
The classic. One hidden word, six wrong guesses — make every letter count.
How to play Hangman
- A hidden word of five to eight letters is drawn — one tile per letter.
- Guess letters with the keyboard below (or your own keyboard).
- Correct letters fill every place they appear in the word.
- Each wrong letter adds a part to the drawing — head, body, two arms, two legs.
- Solve the word before the sixth miss completes the figure.
Finish a round and New word deals another instantly — this is Hangman the way the paper-and-pencil game never managed: unlimited words, no arguing about whether "rhythm" is fair, and your win streak tracked automatically.
Hangman strategy
Vowels first is the schoolyard rule, and it's half right: E, A and O appear in most English words, so they cheaply sketch the word's skeleton. But the wins come from consonant patterns. A revealed _ I N _ begs for G; T _ E at the end suggests few options. Letter frequency order — E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R — is a solid fallback whenever the pattern goes quiet. And remember that short words are the cruel ones: a five-letter word offers fewer positions to reveal, so every miss hurts more.
If you find yourself enjoying the deduction more than the drawing, the same instinct powers Wordle Unlimited — Hangman with positional clues — and Don't Wordle, where you must do the exact opposite.
Frequently asked questions
How many wrong guesses do you get?
Six — the traditional head, body, two arms and two legs. The gallows frame is drawn from the start, so every miss is visible progress toward losing, exactly as the classic game intends.
Where do the words come from?
From the same curated answer lists our Wordle games use, spanning five to eight letters — common enough to be guessable, varied enough to stay interesting. No obscure dictionary traps.
Is Hangman good for kids and classrooms?
Yes — hangman has been a classroom vocabulary staple for generations, and our answer lists are family-friendly. Younger players may also enjoy Wordle for Kids, which uses hand-reviewed simpler words.
Are my Hangman stats saved?
Wins, streaks and a wrong-guess chart are saved in your browser, and they ride along with the same backup file and Google Drive sync as the rest of your Wordle Unlimited stats.
