One continuous path

How to play Zip

  1. Start at 1. Use the arrow keys to move one neighboring cell at a time.
  2. Visit every numbered checkpoint in order. You cannot cross a later number early.
  3. Fill every cell exactly once. The final number must be the end of one continuous path.

Move back over the previous cell, press Backspace, or use Control-Z or Command-Z to undo one step.

Your current path will be replaced.

How to play Zip

Start on the cell marked 1. Move up, down, left or right to extend one continuous path, visiting 2, 3 and every later checkpoint in order. A cell can appear in the path only once, and the completed path must cover the entire board before it reaches the final number.

Drag across cells for the quickest mouse or touch experience. You can also tap neighboring cells one at a time or use the arrow keys. Dragging back over the path erases its tail, and Undo restores the previous path when a promising route becomes a dead end.

Zip strategy

Respect the endpoint

The path can grow only from its current end. Before entering a narrow corner, check that the remaining open cells still connect to the next number and that you have not sealed off a pocket.

Use the numbered cells as anchors

Numbers fix the order, but not the distance between them. Work backward from the next checkpoint when its surrounding cells are constrained, then make sure your route can join that approach.

Watch for stranded cells

A single empty square trapped behind your path can never be recovered. Corners and one-cell-wide corridors are usually the best places to reason first.

Difficulty levels

Easy uses approachable 5×5 grids with more checkpoints. Medium moves to 6×6, Hard removes more anchors from the same larger board, and Expert expands to 7×7. Every bundled puzzle is generated from a complete path and checked by an offline solver to confirm that its visible clues have one legal answer.

Share a fixed-seed challenge

The challenge panel below the board turns the current puzzle into a short link that always opens the exact same board. Send it to a friend and race the identical checkpoints, or copy it from the address bar - the page URL always points at the puzzle on screen.

Frequently asked questions

What is the goal of Zip?

Draw one continuous orthogonal path from 1 through every numbered checkpoint in order. The path must use every grid cell exactly once and end on the highest number.

Do Zip puzzles have one solution?

Yes. Every included board is checked offline by a path solver and published only when the visible numbered checkpoints allow exactly one complete path.

Can I play Zip with a keyboard?

Yes. Focus the board and use the arrow keys to extend the path. Backspace, Delete or Control-Z undoes a step, and H uses the optional hint.

Is my unfinished path saved?

Yes. The current puzzle, path, hint and elapsed time are saved automatically in this browser.

Can a friend race the same Zip board?

Yes. Every unlimited puzzle has a fixed seed and a short challenge link. Share it from the panel below the board and the recipient gets the identical checkpoints, so solve times are directly comparable.
