What is Dordle?

Dordle is a two-board word puzzle. Every five-letter guess is submitted to both hidden words, producing two independent sets of green, yellow and grey tiles. You have seven shared rows to solve both answers. Finishing one board does not end the round: that board freezes while your remaining guesses continue on the unsolved word.

The format sits neatly between classic Wordle Unlimited and the four-board Quordle. It introduces the central multi-board decision — choosing a guess that helps more than one answer — without filling the screen with too many grids. This version is unlimited, so the New words button deals another pair immediately.

How to play Dordle

  1. Type one valid five-letter word and press Enter.
  2. Read the same guess separately on the left and right boards.
  3. Use green letters in place, move yellow letters, and rule out grey letters for each answer.
  4. Solve both words before the seventh shared row is used.

A key on the on-screen keyboard is split into a left and right half. Each half remembers the best clue for its matching board, so one letter can be green on the left but grey on the right. The two boards may look similar after the opener, but treat their evidence as separate notebooks.

Dordle strategy for two boards

Start with a word that tests several common letters. On the second turn, resist the urge to finish an obvious answer if a broader guess can uncover the other board as well. Seven rows give you one more guess than ordinary Wordle but ask for two solutions, so a move that creates useful information on both sides is unusually valuable.

Once one board has enough confirmed letters, solving it can simplify the interface and your thinking. After it freezes, every remaining row belongs to the other answer. Watch repeated letters carefully: duplicate scoring is calculated independently for each word, and the same guess can reveal a different letter count on either side.

Frequently asked questions

How many guesses are in Dordle?

You get seven shared guesses to solve two words. A guess always uses one row on both active boards, even when it was mainly chosen to investigate only one of them.

Can I play Dordle more than once a day?

Yes. This is Dordle Unlimited: start another random pair whenever a round finishes. An unfinished game is stored in your browser and returns after a refresh.

What comes after Dordle?

Try Quordle Unlimited for four boards and nine guesses, then Octordle Unlimited for eight boards and thirteen guesses. All three use the same dictionary and scoring rules, so the difficulty increase comes from managing more simultaneous evidence rather than learning a different interface.

Is this the official Dordle?

No. This is an independent implementation for Wordle Unlimited and is not affiliated with The New York Times or the publishers of other Dordle games.
