What is Birthday Wordle?

It's Wordle with numbers instead of letters. Every puzzle hides the birthday of a famous person - a musician, athlete, scientist, actor or leader - written as eight digits in MM/DD/YYYY format. Type any real calendar date, press Enter, and the tiles tell you how close you are. Solve it (or run out of guesses) and the game introduces the person behind the date with a short biography.

How to play

  1. Enter a full date - month, day and year, like 06/15/1980. It must be a real calendar date between 01/01/1922 and 12/31/2022.
  2. Green - that digit is correct and in the right position.
  3. Yellow - that digit is in the date, but somewhere else.
  4. Grey - that digit isn't in the date at all.
  5. Each guess also gets a chronology hint: ▲ OLDER means the answer is earlier than your date, while ▼ YOUNGER means the answer is later. Squeeze the timeline from both ends.
  6. You have eight rows. Find the exact date and the ✓ turns green.

Digits behave exactly like letters in Wordle, including duplicates: if you guess two 9s and the date only has one, only one of them lights up.

Hard mode

Flip the toggle above the board before your first guess. In hard mode every green digit must stay in its position, and every yellow digit must appear somewhere in each later guess - no throwaway probing dates. Hard-mode wins are marked with a * when you share.

Is Birthday Wordle free?

Completely - no sign-up, no app. Your stats and streaks live in your browser.

Do I need to know the person to solve the puzzle?

No. The digit clues and the older/younger hints are enough to pin down any date by pure deduction - knowing your celebrity birthdays is a shortcut, not a requirement. The biography reveal is the reward either way.

Where did the party-word puzzle go?

The earlier birthday-themed word pack (CAKE, BALLOON, CONFETTI…) moved to the topics catalog - play it at Birthday Party. This page is now a different game about actual birthdays.

Can I make one from a real birthday - like Mom's?
