Wordle for Kids
Familiar five-letter words, carefully selected for younger players.
Reviewed word list Answers are hand-picked, and guesses use a stricter dictionary that filters unsuitable terms.
Choose a reviewed word length
A gentler Wordle game for children
The goal is the familiar one: find a hidden five-letter word in six guesses. Green means the right letter in the right place, yellow means the letter belongs somewhere else, and grey means it is not in the answer. Children can play unlimited rounds without a timer, account or download.
The important difference is the vocabulary. The 4-, 5- and 6-letter answers come from separate hand-reviewed collections of familiar words such as APPLE, BEACH, CHAIR, GRAPE, MUSIC, ROBOT, SMILE and WHALE. We leave out obscure inflections, adult subjects, hateful language, drugs and clearly violent terms. The accepted guess list is broader than the answer list so children can experiment, but it receives the same additional content filtering.
Built for practice without pressure
- Familiar answers: common objects, animals, places, actions and ideas.
- Unlimited retries: a new word is always one tap away.
- Private progress: statistics stay in this browser and require no child account.
- Separate records: Kids results never change any regional English win rate.
Adults should still choose games and screen time appropriate for their child. Our curation is a practical word-game filter, not a substitute for supervision. For a larger vocabulary, play US English; for British spellings, try Wordle UK Unlimited.
Frequently asked questions
What ages is Wordle for Kids designed for?
It is designed mainly for readers aged 8–12, although younger children can play with an adult and older players can use it as a gentler vocabulary game.
How is the kids word list reviewed?
The 4-, 5- and 6-letter answer lists are reviewed separately for familiarity, age suitability and clear spelling. The guess dictionary also removes profanity, slurs and unsuitable terms.
Is this the same puzzle as US English Wordle?
The green, yellow and grey rules are the same, but the answer pool is smaller and more familiar. Kids statistics are stored separately because its difficulty is different.
Can children play more than once?
Yes. This is an unlimited game: after any round, choose New word to start another immediately.
