What is Sedecordle?

Sedecordle doubles Octordle: sixteen hidden five-letter words, twenty-one shared guesses. Every word you type is scored against all sixteen boards at once, and a board freezes at its winning row the moment you crack it. The name comes from sedecim, Latin for sixteen — and yes, it is exactly as chaotic as it sounds until you develop a system.

Twenty-one rows for sixteen words leaves only five rows of slack, so a sixteen-board game is less about clever single deductions and more about disciplined information gathering. The first several guesses are pure coverage; the rest of the game is conversion, turning near-complete patterns into solves without wasting rows. This unlimited version deals a fresh set of sixteen whenever you finish, so you can actually practice that discipline instead of waiting a day between attempts.

How to play Sedecordle

  1. Type any valid five-letter word — it counts on all sixteen boards simultaneously.
  2. Green tiles are correct and in place, yellow letters belong elsewhere in that board's word, grey letters are absent.
  3. The keyboard shows a compact color strip per key summarizing what you know across boards; the boards hold the full evidence.
  4. The keyboard stays pinned to the bottom of your screen while you scroll the boards, so you can type from anywhere on the wall.
  5. Solve all sixteen words on or before row twenty-one.

Strategy for sixteen boards

Open with four or five high-coverage words before trying to solve anything — across sixteen answers nearly every common letter appears somewhere, so early guesses should maximize distinct letters rather than chase a single board. Then sweep the wall top-to-bottom in the same order every round and solve the boards whose patterns are unambiguous first: each solve is also a free, fully-scored word against every remaining board. Save the ambiguous lookalike patterns (think SHINE/SPINE/SWINE) for the endgame, when eliminated letters elsewhere have usually settled them for you.

If sixteen boards feel like a leap, Octordle's eight is the natural training ground. If they feel comfortable, the thirty-two board Duotrigordle is waiting.

Frequently asked questions

How many guesses do you get in Sedecordle?

Twenty-one guesses shared across all sixteen boards. Since a perfect game needs sixteen solving guesses, you have five rows of pure exploration to spend — most players use them all in the opening.

Is this the official Sedecordle?

No — this is an independent, fan-made sixteen-board game built for Wordle Unlimited, not affiliated with the original sedecordle site, The New York Times, or any other publisher. Word list, stats and streaks are our own.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. An unfinished round survives a page refresh, and your wins, streak and guess distribution are stored in your browser — they ride along with the same backup file and Google Drive sync as the rest of your Wordle Unlimited stats.

Sixteen boards is a lot. Any accessibility tips?

On phones the wall lays out two boards per row; on larger screens four. Solved boards dim so unsolved ones stand out, and each board's header shows the row it was solved on. Many players find landscape orientation or a tablet the most comfortable way to play.
