What is Don't Wordle Daily?
Don't Wordle Daily turns the familiar word puzzle inside out. Everyone receives the same hidden five-letter answer for the day, but the goal is not to find it quickly. You try to postpone it for as many valid turns as possible. The mode is also known as Anti Wordle or Avoid Wordle; all three names describe the same reverse objective.
Your result is the number of turns survived before the answer catches you. Because the answer is shared, the daily format creates a fair comparison: players may take completely different routes through the dictionary while facing the same destination. A new challenge arrives at local midnight.
How to play the daily challenge
- Enter any accepted five-letter word to begin today's route.
- Keep every green letter locked in its exact position on all later turns.
- Reuse every yellow letter, but move it away from positions already shown in yellow.
- Avoid letters that the clues have proved unavailable.
- Keep choosing unplayed legal words until you enter the hidden answer or give up.
There is no artificial six-row limit. The board adds one row at a time for as long as your route continues. Locked letters are prefilled, impossible keyboard keys are disabled, and the game explains the first broken rule when a guess contradicts earlier feedback.
Read the legal-word countdown
The large counter shows exactly how many unplayed dictionary words remain legal for your next turn. Every finished row keeps a snapshot of that number on its right side. A run might fall from 678 choices to 10, then to 1 and finally 0. That shrinking trail is part of your share result, so it captures the pressure of the route without revealing your guesses or today's answer.
Green pressure means the branch is still broad, amber signals that the choices are becoming scarce, and red marks the most constrained endgame. The count includes repeated-letter rules and all clues from the full history rather than checking only the latest row.
Daily Don't Wordle strategy
Normal Wordle rewards information; this mode often punishes it. A broad opening can reveal several compulsory letters and collapse the legal list immediately. The best move is not always the word that teaches you most about the answer, but the word that leaves useful branches available after its feedback becomes mandatory.
Watch how each choice changes the right-hand number. Greens permanently occupy a slot, while yellows must keep appearing without returning to their forbidden positions. Near the end, consider repeated letters, common suffixes and alternative forms before accepting the one obvious word. The Daily statistics panel records days played, survival results and streaks; the Unlimited panel keeps a separate practice history.
Frequently asked questions
Is Don't Wordle Daily the same as Anti Wordle?
It uses the same core avoid-the-answer rules commonly described by both names. This page adds one shared puzzle per day, while Don't Wordle Unlimited lets you start another hidden word immediately.
Can I replay today's puzzle?
Your completed daily result is saved in this browser and counted once. The next playable daily answer appears at midnight. Use Unlimited mode when you want more practice today.
What happens if I give up?
Give up requires a second confirmation, then reveals the answer and ends that daily run. It counts as a played day but not as a caught-word survival result, and the button is disabled once the result is final.
Does sharing reveal the answer?
No. The shared text identifies the daily challenge and shows your survived-turn score plus the sequence of remaining-word counts. It does not include your guesses or the hidden word.
Is this an official Wordle game?
No. It is an independent reverse word game made for Wordle Unlimited and is not affiliated with The New York Times or other similarly named games.
