What is Octordle?
Octordle expands the shared-guess idea to eight hidden five-letter words. One entry is scored across every unsolved board, and you have thirteen total guesses to uncover all eight answers. A solved board freezes at its winning row, helping you see which puzzles still need attention as the round narrows.
Thirteen rows sound generous until one stubborn board survives the first ten guesses. The challenge is not merely solving eight small Wordles; it is managing a common guess budget. An excellent move can advance several boards at once, while an overly specific guess may spend a row helping only one. This unlimited version lets you practice that tradeoff with a fresh set whenever you finish.
How to play Octordle
- Enter a valid five-letter guess to score it against all eight answers.
- Read every board independently: green is correct, yellow is misplaced and grey is absent.
- Use the board labels and solve counters to track which words are finished.
- Find all eight answers on or before row thirteen.
The keyboard uses a compact color strip instead of eight tiny wedges. Its strip summarizes how the letter is distributed across the boards you have investigated — grey, yellow and green — while the full position-by-position evidence remains on the grids. It is a quick attention signal, not a replacement for reading the individual boards.
A practical Octordle strategy
The opening phase is about coverage. Two broad guesses can expose enough consonants and vowels to make several answers recognizable. The middle phase is about conversion: solve boards whose pattern is clear, especially when the answer also tests letters that matter elsewhere. The final phase is triage — identify the board with the fewest viable patterns before your remaining rows disappear.
Scan in the same order after every guess so no board becomes invisible simply because it sits lower on the page. A useful habit is to count unsolved boards against remaining rows. With three rows left and three boards open, guesses that can plausibly solve more than one board deserve priority. If eight boards feel visually noisy, build the habit first in Dordle or Quordle.
