What is Football Wordle?

It's Wordle with studs on: the classic guessing game where every hidden answer comes from football. And because "football" means two different sports depending on which side of the Atlantic you're standing, this pack deliberately plays both - you'll meet the STRIKER and the OFFSIDE trap alongside the BLITZ and the nine-letter TOUCHDOWN. Knowing the theme is a real tactical edge; the fun is working out which football the word belongs to before you spend a guess.

Words range from 4 to 9 letters and stay hidden until solved - and this pack tracks its progress in a dressing room: every word you crack signs a player for your squad, hanging their kit on the wall below the board. Kit numbers are the word lengths, so scouting your next signing is part of the game - tap any unsigned shirt to play that word. Fill all 30 pegs and the trophy goes in your case.

How to play

Frequently asked questions

Is this soccer or American football?

Both, on purpose. Roughly half the pack comes from each code, so UK and US players get home-turf words and away fixtures alike. If you only follow one football, the other half doubles as a vocabulary lesson.

Are team names included?

Not in this pack - it sticks to the language of the game itself. For clubs and franchises, head to UK Football Teams or NFL Teams.

Is my progress saved?
