What a Page-by-Page Review of the Topic Packs Found (and Fixed)

Wordle Unlimited has more than 300 themed packs, from US Presidents to Undertale. Most were written in a hurry years ago, and until this week nobody had sat down and played through a sample of them with a critical eye. We did that for 20 packs, checked every answer list, and fixed what we found. Three things stood out.

A wrong answer in the Miami Heat pack

The Miami Heat pack has seven players from the 2014 to 2016 teams. The fifth answer was stored as louldeng. The player is Luol Deng, so the correct entry, typed the way the board expects (no spaces), is luoldeng. A player who knew the right name got “Not in word list” and could never finish the pack.

That is now fixed. If you had this pack in progress, nothing else changes: the other six answers and your trophy progress carry over, and the corrected word simply shows as unsolved.

Two lessons went into the pack’s new “About this pack” note. First, every pack built from people’s names uses the names without spaces, because the board has no space key. Second, a team pack is a snapshot of a few players from one era, not the current roster, and it should say so.

The science category had a pack called “Algebra Word Search”. It is a Wordle-style guessing game: you work out coefficient or polynomial one letter at a time. There is no grid to scan and no hidden words to circle. Anyone arriving from a search for a word search got something else.

Rather than build a different game, we renamed it to what it is: Algebra Terms. The address has not changed, because changing addresses breaks links and saved progress, so the page carries a short note explaining the mismatch between its name and its URL. Honest beats tidy.

Two US States packs with one name

There were two packs called “US States”: a 16-state one in Popular and a 44-state one in Geography. Every state in the small pack is also in the big one, and nothing told you which to pick.

They are now the US States Starter Pack and the US States Expanded Pack, and each links to the other. The expanded pack also answers the obvious question: why 44 and not 50? Because Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and West Virginia all have more than 11 letters once the space is removed, and 11 is the widest board the game supports. The old page quietly implied a complete set; the new one tells you exactly what you are getting.

What we did not change

Several packs in the sample looked thin by the numbers but turned out fine when played: The Walking Dead, Halo and the Birthday Party pack all have distinct, playable answer lists and real people searching for them. Low traffic is not a defect, and we did not treat it as one. Nor did we hide any page from search engines on the strength of a spreadsheet.

The review continues. If a pack gives you a wrong answer or promises something it does not deliver, the fastest way to reach us is the feedback link in the footer, and the fix will show up here on the changelog.
